In brief
Trading in both Ukrainian agricultural companies was suspended on successive days, UNIAN reported. The report did not identify the cause of the falls.
Shares in Ukrainian agricultural company IMC fell 17.71% on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on October 21 before trading was suspended, UNIAN reported, citing Interfax-Ukraine.
Astarta shares had fallen 19.14% on the same exchange the previous day, with trading also suspended, according to the report.
Financial analyst Andriy Shevchyshyn told UNIAN the suspensions were an automatic exchange mechanism intended to prevent further sharp falls when there were too few buyers. He said he had no information explaining the price declines.
Shevchyshyn said the suspensions themselves would not create an additional funding shortfall for the companies. Lower share prices could limit borrowing if the shares were used as collateral, he added, but he was unsure whether the companies actively used that financing method.
