In brief
The association proposes additional funding for salaries and shelters in the 2027 state budget, linking education spending to keeping families in frontline communities.
Ukraine’s Association of Frontline Cities and Communities has proposed an additional 32 billion hryvnias for education in the 2027 state budget, its head Ihor Terekhov said. RBC-Ukraine reported the proposal on October 7, citing an association meeting.
The request includes 25 billion hryvnias in additional education grants for teachers’ pay, 5 billion for salaries in preschool, extracurricular, arts and vocational education, and 2 billion for shelters. The association also proposes setting the base salary for teachers in the lowest qualification category at no less than twice the minimum wage from September 1, 2027.
Terekhov said the spending would help teachers continue working, children continue studying and families remain in frontline communities. He also highlighted safe spaces for in-person education in cities facing Russian shelling. The report describes proposals, rather than approved budget allocations or salary increases.
