Estonia commits another €10 million for Ukraine arms through PURL

In brief

The decision will bring Estonia's contribution to the NATO initiative to €31 million, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said.

Estonia's government has approved another €10 million for weapons purchases for Ukraine through NATO's PURL initiative, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said on October 22, according to Novynarnia. The additional funding will bring Estonia's total contribution to €31 million.

Tsahkna said the money would help Ukraine obtain air defence equipment and ammunition. He put Estonia's military assistance to Ukraine this year at 0.3% of the country's gross domestic product.

The minister linked the need for continued international support to Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the approaching winter. Novynarnia's report did not specify particular weapons systems, ammunition quantities or delivery dates.
