In brief
Ukraine’s Air Force communications chief questioned how long Russia could sustain such attacks and stressed the need for interceptors.
Russia could launch more than 300 missiles travelling on ballistic trajectories in a month if it maintains the current intensity of attacks, Ukrainian Air Force communications chief Yurii Ihnat said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, reported by UNIAN on October 23.
Ihnat said Russia had fired nearly 80 such missiles over three days, with daily totals of 39, 16 and 23. He put the possible monthly figure at 320 or more if intensive attacks continued. The cited report did not specify the dates of those three days.
He questioned whether Russia could sustain that intensity for long, saying its stockpiles were finite, but said Ukraine needed to prepare for the threat.
Countering more than 300 missiles a month would require large stocks of interceptors for air defence systems supplied by Ukraine’s partners, including Patriot, he said.
