Musk backs possible Tesla–SpaceX merger, with terms still unresolved

In brief

Special committees are examining a potential combination, Musk said, warning that agreement is not guaranteed and shareholders would have the final say.

Elon Musk has expressed support for a possible merger of Tesla and SpaceX, saying both companies have established special committees to examine the option. UNIAN reported his remarks on October 21, citing the BBC.

Speaking on a call with financial analysts discussing SpaceX's latest results, Musk said the committees had yet to agree on terms and might not reach an agreement. He nevertheless said he saw substantial benefits in combining the companies.

Musk said shareholders would make the final decision. UNIAN described the approval requirement as support from at least 50% of Tesla shareholders, a threshold Musk called a high barrier. The report did not specify an agreed deal price or a completion date.
