In brief
The foreign ministry is checking relatives' reports that Kazakh citizens may be fighting in Ukraine before sending a list to Moscow.
Kazakhstan's foreign ministry is negotiating with Russia over bringing its citizens home from the war in Ukraine, Novynarnia reported on October 7, citing Tengrinews and the ministry.
The ministry said it was checking each report received through its hotline from people whose relatives may be at war. It plans to send a list to Russia once those checks are complete and said it maintains contact with Russian officials at several levels.
Mothers of several Kazakh citizens previously alleged in a video appeal that their sons had travelled to Russia for work and were tricked into fighting against Ukraine. The ministry said it was treating the situation seriously. Novynarnia's report did not describe any completed returns.
