Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin has affirmed Ukraine's right to self-defence while calling for an end to hostilities, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing Vatican News.
Parolin said the Holy See supported initiatives for an immediate, complete and effective ceasefire. He described the war as a tragedy and expressed concern about approaching winter and deaths caused by intensified attacks.
The Vatican was ready to help, he said, with strict respect for international law as a priority. He also linked a lasting solution to renewed commitments to security and cooperation in Europe.
