In brief
The company hopes to secure government backing for dual-use technology development and expand its Finnish team to 100 people by year-end.
Ukrainian defence company Sine Engineering has launched a joint initiative with Finland to develop, test and manufacture dual-use technologies there, UNIAN reported on October 24, citing The Kyiv Independent.
The initiative focuses on resilient communications, navigation and onboard autonomy. Sine Engineering specialises in satellite-independent navigation software that enables drones to fly without GPS.
Chief executive and co-founder Andrii Chulyk said the company hoped Ukraine and Finland would support including the initiative among projects under their drone agreement, signed on September 23. His statement described an ambition rather than an approved inclusion.
The company hopes to expand its Finnish team to 100 people by the end of the year, with engineers accounting for 80%. UNIAN’s report did not specify a production budget, output targets or a timetable for starting production.
