In brief
The president said Ukraine would then seek security guarantees from Donald Trump and European allies.
Ukraine could agree to halt fighting along the current front line, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a Fox News interview reported by RBC-Ukraine on October 21.
Asked whether he would accept a peace agreement freezing the conflict at existing positions, Zelensky answered yes. He described a halt to fighting as a realistic route towards ending Russia's war against Ukraine and said stopping the killing was the minimum Ukraine was demanding of Russia.
Zelensky said Ukraine would subsequently seek security guarantees from US President Donald Trump and European allies. His remarks expressed willingness to pursue a ceasefire; RBC-Ukraine's report did not describe an agreement reached with Russia or a ceasefire already in effect.
