In brief

RBC-Ukraine cited open-source intelligence channels reporting a blaze at Tolyattikauchuk. Its report gave no damage assessment or casualty figures.

A fire broke out at the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant in Russia’s Samara region overnight into October 24 following an alleged attack, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing open-source intelligence channels.

The outlet said footage posted near dawn showed flames and thick black smoke. It also reported a drone alert in the region and a suspension of operations at the local airport. The report did not identify who carried out the alleged attack or establish what weapon was used.

Local residents also reported an evacuation at AvtoVAZ, according to RBC-Ukraine. The outlet did not specify its scale and included no official confirmation of the attack, casualty figures or assessment of damage.

Tolyattikauchuk produces synthetic rubber, chemical feedstocks and gasoline additives. RBC-Ukraine said its products can be used in Russian military supply chains; the report did not establish whether the fire affected production.
