In brief
Deputy Senate Speaker Magdalena Biejat says the proposal would reverse some cuts to support. RBC-Ukraine's report did not specify the benefits or a timetable.
Poland's Left is preparing a bill intended to restore some benefits for Ukrainian refugees, Deputy Senate Speaker Magdalena Biejat told RBC-Ukraine in a report published on October 7.
Biejat attributed earlier cuts to compromises following President Karol Nawrocki's veto of legislation governing support. She said the Senate had lacked time to prepare a substantial alternative and that some concessions had stripped help from the most vulnerable people.
She said she had discussed the issue with nongovernmental organisations. She also highlighted Ukrainian migrants' contribution to Poland's economy and called for support for people unable to work.
Biejat described a proposal still being prepared. RBC-Ukraine's report did not include the draft text, identify which benefits it would restore or specify when it might take effect.
