Mykhailo Drapatyi introduced medical service Colonel Kostiantyn Humeniuk to personnel as the new commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces' Medical Forces, RBC-Ukraine reported on 5 October, citing Drapatyi's Facebook post.
Humeniuk is a military surgeon who previously served as the armed forces' chief surgeon and has experience in the Air Assault Forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed him by decree on 14 September; the newly reported development is his introduction to personnel and the priorities outlined for him.
Drapatyi called for faster, more technologically advanced care and recruitment of additional qualified doctors and medical personnel to address staffing shortages. He said effectiveness should be measured primarily by servicemembers' lives saved. The report gives no timetable for these changes.
