In brief
The president asked partners for more protection against ballistic missiles, calling infrastructure defence the main current challenge.
Ukraine is preparing new contracts for air-defence systems and missiles, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an evening address reported on 5 October by RBC-Ukraine and ZN.UA. He said decisions had been made but disclosed no system types, quantities or delivery dates.
Following discussions with government officials and military commanders, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was strengthening its defences with turrets and special groups targeting Shahed attack drones. He said tasks had been assigned to interceptor manufacturers and funding was available.
Zelenskyy also appealed to international partners for more protection against ballistic missiles, describing the defence of infrastructure as the main current challenge. His remarks did not establish that the new contracts had been signed or equipment delivered.
