In brief

Ukraine is seeking additional air defence support and F-16 ammunition from partners, the president said.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on October 8 that Ukraine was preparing responses to a new wave of Russian escalation. Priority steps were identified after a briefing by SBU security service chief Oleksandr Poklad and deputy presidential office head Pavlo Palisa, RBC-Ukraine and Novynarnia reported.

Zelensky said Ukraine was working through all available channels with partners able to provide additional air defence packages and ammunition for F-16 fighter jets. The reports did not specify new deliveries, quantities or delivery dates, or describe the responses being prepared. He also said work continued to meet requests from combat corps and brigade commanders raised during frontline meetings.

Novynarnia also cited an earlier statement by Zelensky following a conversation with European Council President António Costa. Zelensky said Russian strikes on Pryluky, Kramatorsk, Kyiv and other cities had killed 78 people and wounded 215 in recent days. The report did not specify the precise period covered by those figures.
