In brief
Proliska’s crew escaped moments before the strike on a Swiss-donated armoured vehicle, according to the mission’s head.
A Russian FPV drone destroyed an armoured vehicle belonging to the Proliska humanitarian mission in Donetsk region on October 21, mission head Yevhen Kaplyn said, according to Novynarnia. All crew members survived; the report did not specify whether anyone was injured.
The crew was travelling from Oleksandrivka towards Kramatorsk via Ocheretyne at 14:50 to collect people with limited mobility. Kaplyn said local residents signalled that a drone was approaching, prompting the team leader to order a stop. The crew escaped just before impact, he said.
The drone’s anti-tank warhead pierced the armoured compartment and started a fire, according to Kaplyn. Switzerland’s government had donated the vehicle two months earlier, and it had since helped evacuate more than 500 residents of Donetsk region.
Earlier that day, volunteers had taken 18 people with limited mobility, serious illnesses or injuries from Sloviansk and Kramatorsk to an intermediate evacuation point. Kaplyn described the strike as the 120th Russian attack on the mission’s personnel, vehicles, offices or warehouses since the full-scale invasion began.
