Ukraine’s defences against jet-powered drones have improved, reserve officer says

In brief

Anatolii Khrapchynskyi credits automatic turrets, interceptor drones and partner assistance, while noting continued reliance on conventional interception systems.

Ukraine’s ability to counter jet-powered drones has noticeably improved since early September, Anatolii Khrapchynskyi, a defence company development director and reserve Ukrainian Air Force officer, told LIGA.net in comments published on October 12.

Khrapchynskyi said Ukraine had received a range of countermeasures and that the introduction of automatic turrets and interceptor drones had expanded its options. He also cited assistance from partners, while saying Ukraine remained heavily dependent on conventional systems to intercept jet-powered drones.

LIGA.net’s report did not specify the number of new systems, detail the partner assistance or provide comparative interception figures to quantify the improvement.
