Kyiv prosecutors sue city authorities over mobile shelters

In brief

Prosecutors are seeking urgent installation of shelters near public transport stops; court proceedings have opened, RBC-Ukraine reports.

Kyiv city prosecutors have filed a lawsuit seeking to compel the Kyiv City State Administration and city council to take urgent steps to install mobile shelters near public transport stops, RBC-Ukraine reported on October 12, citing the prosecutor's office.

The prosecutors want the court to declare the authorities' failure to provide enough shelters unlawful. They say the shortage puts residents and visitors at risk and point to local authorities' responsibility to provide and maintain civil protection shelters.

According to the report, the court has opened proceedings. That does not establish that the prosecutors' demands have been granted. RBC-Ukraine did not specify when the lawsuit was filed.
