EU plans to remove two businessmen from Belarus sanctions list, journalist says

In brief

EU ambassadors are expected to act on October 7, according to Rikard Jozwiak. Mikhail Gutseriev would remain subject to Russia-related sanctions.

EU ambassadors plan to remove Mikhail Gutseriev and Viktor Shevtsov from the bloc’s Belarus sanctions list on October 7, Radio Liberty journalist Rikard Jozwiak said on X, according to RBC-Ukraine’s October 6 report.

Jozwiak said the Russian and Belarusian businessmen had won several cases in the EU court. RBC-Ukraine’s report did not specify case numbers or include the text of the planned decision.

Gutseriev would remain under EU restrictions, Jozwiak said, because he was recently added to the Russia sanctions list for undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Removal from the Belarus list would therefore leave those separate sanctions in place.
