In brief

Repairs are under way and electricity supplies are gradually being restored, the president said after a regional situation briefing.

Russian attacks hit 28 substations and other important energy infrastructure facilities, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, according to Novynarnia's October 19 report. The total covers both substations and other facilities.

Repair crews were working at the affected sites and gradually restoring electricity to consumers, he said. Novynarnia did not list the facilities or specify the exact period covered by the count.

The briefing also addressed preparations for the heating season and tasks for the government, energy companies and regional and local authorities. Zelenskyy instructed government and presidential office officials to step up contacts with international partners able to strengthen Ukraine's air defences quickly.
