In brief

Ukraine's SBU says he sent footage of military positions to a sanctioned blogger. He faces up to eight years in prison if convicted.

Ukraine's Security Service, the SBU, said a Kyiv resident had been detained on suspicion of unlawfully sharing information about military positions in the capital, LIGA.net reported on October 7.

Investigators allege that he filmed the positions through his car's windscreen and sent the video to a sanctioned blogger. According to the SBU, the blogger previously worked for Viktor Medvedchuk's television channel and is now in territory outside Ukrainian government control. LIGA.net's report did not name either man or specify when the footage was recorded.

The SBU said an expert examination found that the disclosure harmed Ukraine's national security. The man was formally notified of suspicion of sharing information that allowed Ukrainian military positions to be identified during martial law, an offence carrying a possible prison term of up to eight years. The report did not describe a conviction or sentence.
