In brief

Ukraine’s security service reported sentences of 15 and 10 years for residents of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk who it said shared a Russian intelligence handler.

Two men exposed in September 2025 for helping direct Russian attacks in Ukraine’s Donetsk region have received prison sentences of 15 and 10 years, the Security Service of Ukraine, or SBU, said on October 23, according to Novynarnia.

The SBU said the men operated separately but reported to the same Russian military intelligence handler. It said a Sloviansk resident helped direct Russian aerial bombs and rocket artillery, while a Kramatorsk resident collected locations of checkpoints and routes used by mobile air defence teams.

According to the SBU, the convictions concerned wartime treason and the unauthorised disclosure of Ukrainian troop movements or positions, according to each man’s offences. One received 15 years with confiscation of property; the other received 10 years, with his cooperation with investigators taken into account.

Novynarnia’s report did not identify the court or the men, specify which resident received each sentence, or state whether the verdicts had entered into legal force.
