In brief
The existing measures cover 80 individuals and 20 entities, with asset freezes and restrictions on funding remaining in force.
The Council of the European Union extended sanctions over Russia’s destabilising activities abroad for another year on October 8, until October 9, 2027. Novynarnia reported the decision, citing European Pravda’s account of a Council press service statement.
The measures currently cover 80 individuals and 20 entities. Their assets are frozen, and EU citizens and companies are barred from providing them with funds, financial assets or economic resources. Listed individuals are also prohibited from entering or transiting through the EU.
The Council cited continuing and intensified Russian hybrid activities, including information manipulation and interference targeting the EU, its member states and partners, as the reason for the extension.
The sanctions framework was introduced on October 8, 2024, and also targets those responsible for Russian hybrid activities against third countries and international organisations. The decision extends existing measures; the reported totals describe the current sanctions list.
