Kyiv hit by fresh ballistic attack after missile strike kills one

In brief

One person was killed and two others hurt in the October 18 evening strike. RBC-Ukraine reported further explosions overnight but gave no casualty or damage figures for the second attack.

Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles overnight into October 19, hours after an evening missile strike killed one person and left two others receiving medical care, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing Ukrainian authorities.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said preliminary information indicated that a medical centre in Desnianskyi district and a non-residential building in Dniprovskyi district had been hit in the evening attack. Emergency services were working at the sites.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat before further explosions were heard overnight, according to RBC-Ukraine, which also cited Kyiv’s city administration. Residents were urged to remain in shelters until the all-clear.

RBC-Ukraine’s report on the second attack did not specify casualties or damage from it. The one death and two people hurt were reported from the earlier evening strike.
